Reaching every farmer in every county across Kenya requires more than technology — it requires people. That is why Digilivestock has built its growth strategy around a nationwide network of agents and distributors who serve as the human bridge between our platform and the farming community.
The Agent Role: Boots on the Ground
Digilivestock agents are the frontline of our operations. These are typically veterinary professionals, agricultural officers, or community leaders who understand the local farming landscape and have established trust with livestock owners in their area.
An agent's primary responsibilities include registering new farmers on the platform, conducting livestock tagging exercises, maintaining animal health records, facilitating tag transfers during sales, and educating the community about the benefits of digital identification. In return, agents earn commissions on every registration, every tag sold, and every service transaction processed through their account.

Top-performing agents are earning over KES 80,000 per month in commissions alone.
The Distributor Role: Scaling the Supply Chain
While agents handle the last-mile interaction with farmers, distributors manage the supply chain that makes it all possible. Distributors are responsible for procuring tags and equipment from Digilivestock, warehousing inventory, and supplying agents within their territory.
The distributor model is designed for entrepreneurs with existing supply chain infrastructure — agrovet shop owners, agricultural input dealers, or business professionals looking to enter the agritech space. Distributors purchase tags at wholesale rates and sell to agents at a markup, creating a sustainable business model that scales with regional demand.
Territory Exclusivity
Each distributor receives an exclusive territory — typically one or two counties — ensuring no overlap and providing a clear, captive market for their operations.
Training & Support
Digilivestock provides comprehensive training for distributors and their agents, covering product knowledge, tagging procedures, app usage, and customer engagement.
Dashboard & Analytics
Distributors have access to a real-time dashboard showing sales performance, agent activity, inventory levels, and revenue reports for their territory.
Why This Model Works
The agent-distributor model works because it aligns incentives at every level. Farmers benefit from digital identification and rewards. Agents earn commissions while serving their community. Distributors build profitable businesses with territory-level exclusivity. And Digilivestock achieves nationwide coverage without the overhead of a centralized field force.
This model also ensures that the people interacting with farmers are locals — people who speak the same language, understand the local farming practices, and have pre-existing relationships in the community. Technology adoption in rural Kenya is fundamentally a trust exercise, and trust is built through familiar faces.
"I was running a small agrovet in Kericho. When I became a Digilivestock distributor, it gave me a new revenue stream that complemented my existing business perfectly. My agents are people I already knew — local vets and community leaders."
